Springville Junior High School Announcements for 4/22/2019


Lagoon

Lagoon day will be Wednesday, May 22nd. Students who have maintained eligibility in citizenship grades, attendance, paid all fines and have completed all detentions are invited to attend. You will need to pay $20.00 for the bus, to the finance office by Wednesday, May 15th. You will need to pay for your Lagoon ticket at Lagoon and that will be $35.00. Pick up a permission slip from your 7th period teacher.

High School Hope Squad

For any 9th graders interested in being on HOPE Squad at Springville High School next year, applications will be available from April 23rd-May 3rd in the Counseling office or the front office. Applications will be due to the Counseling Office by May 3rd.

Especially For Athletes

Especially for Athletes Summit will be Saturday, May 4th at Springville High School from Noon- 4pm. All especially for athletes from around the state are invited to attend.

District Art Show

Nebo School District Jr. High Art Show will be held April 29th through May 11th at the Springville Library. Come and support our talented art students.

Nebo Jr. Theatre Festival

Nebo Jr. Theatre Festival is for any Junior High Student who loves theatre. Saturday, April 27th 9:00am to 3:30pm at Mapleton Jr. High. The cost is $15.00 per student.

Youth Court

The 2019-2020 Youth Court Application is currently open for all Springville and Mapleton Students in grades 9-12 on the Springville City Website; www.springville.org/youthcourt. Applications will be taken until April 30th. The new court will be chosen by June 1st.

This is a great opportunity for students wanting to serve their community and learn more about the legal system. The Youth Court hears cases involving juveniles committing crimes that are classified as Class B Misdemeanors and under. Youth Court is used as a restorative justice program to keep youth out of the Juvenile Court System. Student volunteers serve as jury members, judge, bailiff and mentors. The Youth Court receives referrals from the Springville and Mapleton Police Department. Youth Court is also an option for all infractions committed at schools within Springville and Mapleton when referred by an administrator.

Springville Youth City Council

The Springville Youth City Council is currently accepting applications for the coming year. This organization offers youth living in Springville the opportunity to learn about their city government and to serve in their community at events like Art City Days and the World Folk Fest. Students who are currently in grades 8 through 11 are invited to apply. Applications are due Monday, April 30th and are currently available on Springville City's website under the "Government" tab on Springville.org or by following this link: https://www.springville.org/government/youth-city-council/

SHS Dance Company Tryouts

SHS Dance Company 2019-2020 Auditions
Clinics Monday and Tuesday April 29 and 30 from 3-4pm. (Applicants must attend one of these two clinics to learn the clinic dance.)
Auditions Wednesday, May 1 from 3-5pm.
For more information pick up an application in the front office.

Detention

Detention every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you have more than 3 tardies or have a sluff you owe detention so please come work it off in room S204 from 2:45-3:30.
