“I’m the teacher!”

For the last few weeks of school, Mrs. Maughan’s English classes are doing “I’m the teacher” presentations. The students pick something they want to teach the class, and they go up in front of the class for at least five minutes. According to Mrs. Maughan, she does not remember how she decided to do this assignment but she loves it. It is her favorite assignment of the whole year!

Taylor Christensen, one of Mrs. Maughan’s students said, “I like this assignment and I think it’s really fun to watch other people teach me.”

Mrs. Maughan said, “I will definitely keep doing this assignment.  I am surprised every year by the variety of presentations that I see.  Students constantly amaze me with their knowledge, hobbies, and interests.  It's a fun opportunity for them to share those things with their peers.” Also, she thinks students learn a few things from this assignment. They learn how to present in front of an audience, and they learn how to teach about something they like or are interested in. They also learn how to incorporate different learning styles into their presentations, and find out that teaching is harder than they think!

Mrs. Maughan is an awesome teacher, and we really enjoy having her here. This assignment has been a blast so far and we hope future students enjoy it too!
