Boondocks Field Trip

Submitted by jennifer.dunn on

On Friday, May 2nd, all the Super Knights for the year went to Boondocks for a reward party! “I was excited to be a Super Knight so I could go to Boondocks. We did laser tag, played arcade games, and did a lot more,” said Emmalee Smith, a seventh-grade Super Knight.

“I liked being a Super Knight because my parents came to see me accept my award. I put the statue on my desk so I can see it all the time and be reminded that I am a Super Knight. I had so much fun at Boondocks! We rode go karts, played arcade games and my favorite, went to the batting cages! I also liked earning tickets so I could trade them in for prizes. I got a yo-yo, a bouncy ball, and some candy,” said Logan Furner, an eighth-grade Super Knight.

Most people are unaware, but the month of May, is the official mental health month. The counselors at our school have decided to do some activities to raise awareness of this month. “The purpose of mental health awareness month is to get people thinking about the importance of mental health and to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness,” said Mrs. Walker, a counselor at SJHS. “Sometimes the view society has of mental illness is negative or shameful, so we want to help change that perception.”

SJHS has a dance class! You learn how to dance to all different genres of music and make lots of new friends. “I really like learning the dances and doing across the floor routines and leaps. We do jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and many more. Ms. Jarvis is really fun so it makes dance fun,” said Rylee Patti, a seventh grade student in the dance class.

Here at SJHS, we have a wonderful math teacher named Mr. Krebs. He has been teaching for over thirty-three years! Mr. Krebs started teaching in the fall of 1980. He used to work in building construction, and as an electrician, and aerospace technician among other careers.

“I like the challenge of teaching math. It is satisfying to me to teach students math and see the light in their eyes when they understand how to get the solutions to questions,” said Mr. Krebs.
