Dear SJHS parents and guardians:

We hope that this email finds you and your family well. If you do not have enough comptuer devices for your children to participate in online learning, we have Chromebooks available for your SJHS student to check out when school is dismissed for the next two weeks. (If you have children attending other schools in Nebo District, please contact those schools to see about Chromebook check out.) We would like to stagger the pick up times to reduce the number of people we have in the building at one time.

If possible, please come pick up your child’s Chromebook TODAY, TUESDAY, 3/17/20, at the following time:

8:30 - 9:20 for last names A-C
9:30 - 10:20 for last names D-H
10:30 - 11:20 for last names J-M
11:30 - 12:20 for last names N-R
12:30 - 1:20 for last names S-Z

If you do not have internet access your home, there are two companies that will be providing free internet for the next couple months:

1. Comcast - Effective March 16, 2020, Comcast will provide free internet to families with students K-12, through their Internet Essentials Program for two months. They will also increase the speed of current customers. There is no term contract or credit check associated with this service. In addition there is no shipping fee for equipment. 2. CentraCom - CentraCom will provide free 20 Mbps Internet to families with K-12 students living in their homes that do not currently have internet service from CentraCom. To apply, log onto website: https://centracom.com/COVID or call at 800-497-8449

Another internet option is Xfinity WiFi Free For Everyone. Xfinity WiFi hotspots across the country will be available to anyone who needs them for free – including non-Xfinity Internet subscribers. For a map of Xfinity WiFi Free hotspots, visit www.xfinity.com/wifi. Once at a hotspot, consumers should select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots and then launch a browser.

When you come to pick up the Chromebook, you will sign a form (http://bit.ly/CBagreement) that explains the terms under which you are checking out the Chromebook. So you don’t have to read it when you come in to the school, the form states the following information:

I acknowledge receipt of the Chromebook listed above and agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • To be personally responsible for the care and safekeeping of the school district-owned Chromebook, and to return the Chromebook the first day school resumes.
  • If the Chromebook is not returned, or is lost or damaged beyond repair, to pay the fair market value of the Chromebook.
  • To not allow any other person other than the authorized student to use the Chromebook without specific permission of the school.
  • To properly use and care for the Chromebook to the best of your ability.
  • To inform the school immediately in the event of loss or damage to the Chromebook.

Please call the school if you have any questions.
