Dear SJHS students:
I’m sure by now you have heard that Governor Herbert extended our school dismissal through the end of the school year. We were all sad to hear that you wouldn’t be coming back to school before the fall, and we hope that you are all staying healthy at home. We look forward to seeing you when school starts again and we can see each other without worrying about physical distancing and wearing masks
I’m sure you have questions about the end of the school year. We are still figuring out all the details, but here are a few of the basics:
1) We will continue with online instruction until May 15. That is really only five more days of instruction for each of your classes.
2) During the last week of school we will collect textbooks, library books, musical instruments, and Chromebooks. We will also schedule times for you to come to school to gather your belongings from your lockers during the week of May 4 (next week). We will communicate these procedures by the end of this week.
3) We will distribute yearbooks during the last week of school. As of right now, our publisher is planning on delivering books prior to the end of the year. We do still have some yearbooks available for purchase. I emailed your parents last week with more information about how to purchase yearbooks.
We hope that the change to receiving new assignments in your classes just twice a week rather than every day has been helpful for you and makes it easier to stay on track with your work. Please use each Friday to make sure you have turned everything in for the week. You can check your “To Do” list in both Google Classroom and Canvas to see any missing assignments.
Keep in mind, if you turn assignments in late it may take your teachers a few days to grade them. They are grading current assignments first, so be patient as they go back and grade late work.

During this time that we are not in school as usual, students can still search for and check out books from the SJHS Library. To search for a book in the school library:
1) Go to libweb.nebo.edu
2) Click on “Springville Junior High”
3) Click on “Catalog”
4) Complete your search the same as you would if you were standing in the Library.
If you decide you want to check out a book from the SJHS School Library, please do this:
1) Complete a search and verify that the book is available and on the shelf
2) Send an email to gary.brimhall [at] nebo.edu with the name of the book, the author, your name, and your student ID number (your lunch number)
3) Mr. Brimhall will check the book out to you and place it on the Circulation Desk in the library where you can pick it up. Each book will have a note attached with the student’s name. If the Library is closed for a time, the books will be moved to the front office.
