The Amazing Guest Speaker!

Submitted by jennifer.dunn on

If you went to the November Super Knight assembly then you heard that awesome guest speaker. Wesley Ruff, from Channel 4 News, came to our school and gave an important lesson on being a champion. He brought up the student council and some other students onto the stage and had them make letters out of their bodies as he told stories about being a champion. He told a story about when he was in Jr. High, and a story of when he was at sporting event to show the importance of being a champion. In the end all the students spelled out the word champion with their bodies.

If you watched Channel 4 News at six o’clock that evening you would have seen Mr. Ruff on the news wearing one of our Super Knight pins, and giving SJHS a shout out. He told his co-workers that he went to this school as a kid and then he got to come back to visit and speak.

At the assembly we also put a new item, a copy of the school newspaper from this year, in the time capsule.         Anna Claire Smith, a vice president on the student council, said she had fun being on stage and she thought the assembly was a very big success.

Cortez Nelson, the student council president, said the assembly was good because it was fun to have a guest speaker. He also liked getting to shake the Super Knights’ hands. His favorite part was at the end when the guest speaker talked about being a champion.

Mr. Argyle, an assistant principal, said that he liked the assembly and getting to see the Super Knights being presented for all the good things they do at this school. He also liked the guest speaker because he said we were all champions. Mr. Argyle said, “I loved it, it was a great message for kids, adults and anybody really.”
