Batman, Superman, Cat-Woman, Wonderwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Joker. Some of the main fictional characters owned by DC comics, we adore them. Iron man, Thor, Captain America, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Loki, Ant-man, Spiderman, Deadpool, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, The Hulk, Hawk Eye, Quick Silver, Captain Marvel, the She-Hulk etc.. Characters from a different and major comic company known as Marvel. All of these heroes and heroines are loved by people, especially teens and those who have a quirk. Those who are a part of many different fandoms like DC and Marvel, but the real question is, which side do you prefer? Questions like that could potentially start a civil war within fandoms as well as these bad puns. If you’re a Marvel fan, you’ll get the reference. If you aren’t, that’s okay, but let’s all take a breath and find out what some of our very own students around the school think.

First off, we must know if they read or if they even like comic books. Alexa Child and Hayden Bott are 7th graders who both enjoy the presence of comics. Moving onto 8th grade. Elizabeth Perez and Tiger/Porter Ogden. Although Lizzy, doesn’t love them, she’ll read them. Last but not least, what do some of our high schoolers think about comics? Do they like them or not? Well, guess what? Jennifer, Frida, and Ricky all love comics. Now, think about this: do you enjoy comics? If so, what kind?

Let’s all be honest here, whenever we get into some sort of fandom, we all have a favorite character. The real question is, who do all these students have as their favorite? And who do you think they picked? Well, it’s not surprising Batman is a favorite DC character to most people like Alexa, Hayden, Tiger, Jennifer, and Ricky. Elizabeth’s favorite DC heroine is none other than Poison Ivy. Frida? Well, she chose Beast Boy, one of the Teen Titans. Even though he likes Marvel, Hayden doesn’t have a favorite character, but for the other students, it’s a wide variety. Both Jennifer and Elizabeth love Black Widow. Frida likes Ms. Marvel, Tiger adores Deadpool for his sarcasm, and Ricky went with a classic; Spiderman. So, who is yours from both worlds?

Now, things take a slight turn here. All of those who have an inner nerd or those who are just open about it, here’s your chance to find out what their favorite movies are. Let’s start off by finding out which DC movies are favored. As of June 2017, the action filled movie, Wonder Woman was a big step for DC. Within our school and out of the nine students in this article, Wonder Woman was chosen as the favorite by Elizabeth, Frida, and Kaia. For Tiger, Daniel, and Ricky, Batman was the favorite DC. To be more specific, the Dark Knight Trilogy was Daniel’s answer.

With DC movies out of the way, it’s time to know what Marvel movie made it to number one for them. With Marvel, there was a color spectrum of its films. 8th grader Elizabeth Perez loves Guardians of the Galaxy: vol. 1, while Tiger Ogden chose Spiderman: Homecoming. Onto our 9th graders with Jennifer as another Guardians of the Galaxy fan, and Ricky Balderama sticking to the classics as he went with the 2002 version of Spiderman. Frida tends to like movies or characters that are most likely underrated because Ant-man made it onto the top of their list. For Daniel Boggess, he’s stuck between choosing Civil War and Spiderman: Homecoming. Finally, we have Kaia Lowe, who went ahead and prefers Captain America: The First Avenger. Thumbs up! So, what are your favorite movies from both DC and Marvel?

Don’t leave just yet because we are going to find out who their favorite actor/actress is. Not only from one side though. For the DC actors/actresses, it’s a tie between Gal Gadot(Wonder Woman) and Ben Affleck(Batman) yet again. For our Marvel actors/actresses, Frida chose Chris Pratt, Daniel went with Chris Evans, and Jennifer and Ricky both chose Chris Hemsworth. Besides that, Elizabeth and Kaia prefer Scarlett Johansson. Now who are your favorite actors/actresses?

Finally, the one question that could potentially start a fandom war is, which side do they all prefer? Marvel or DC? For all of you DC fans, Alexa, Tiger, and Daniel prefer this universe. Also, always remember Frida’s wise words,”DC deserves some love”.  Now for all of you Marvel geeks, Kaia, Jennifer, Hayden, Elizabeth, and Ricky are with you on this one. So, which side do you prefer? And who are your heroes?
