Behind the Scenes with Mrs. Lauret

Guess who’s new this year at Springville Junior High? Mrs. Kelli Lauret had her first walk through the halls of SJHS at the start of the year.  This is Mrs. Lauret’s first year teaching. As a ninth-grade student she took peer tutoring and thought it was a blast. From that point on Mrs. Lauret knew becoming a teacher was exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up.

Mrs. Lauret attended school for four years at BYU Provo. She is only three months into teaching, and she already loves her job. Mrs. Lauret has thirteen students and three aides that help out in the classroom. She said, “I love my students! It is way fun to see students learning and having fun.”  One thing she likes about her job is seeing her students make progress. “It helps you know that you are making a difference,” said Mrs. Lauret.

Mrs. Lauret’s students all agree that she is a great teacher.  Their teacher plans fun field trips for her students. Jessica Drazan, one of her students, said that what she likes about her teacher is, “she helps you out and is very nice.”  Another student, Leslie Liffereth, said, “She’s awesome!”

When Mrs. Lauret isn’t teaching, she loves to sew, read and hang out with her friends and family. When she can, she likes being out on the water wakeboarding, boating or jet-skiing.  One of Mrs. Lauret’s biggest accomplishments happened recently when she became a Mrs. She got married in August, the weekend before school started.

According to Mrs. Lauret, the three words that best describe her are patience, dedicated and a night owl.  She said patience because she uses a lot of it with her students. Dedication is for her family and her job.  And a night owl is because Mrs. Lauret isn’t a morning person and would much rather stay up late.

Everyone in the world has favorites; even teachers. Mrs. Lauret’s favorite food is Olive Garden’s Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. Her favorite candy bar is Zero Bars, and her favorite vacation spot is a lake house in Texas. Lucky for Mrs. Lauret, her favorite holiday is Christmas. “I’ve already been listening to Christmas music for a whole month!” Mrs. Lauret said.

SJHS is very excited to have a new teacher at the school and are looking forward to a great years with her.
