Journalism is a real-life experience...when you sign up for the journalism class, you get to be a journalist for SJHS! You write articles, interview students and staff around the school, and get your articles published in the SJHS newspaper and the Springville Independent News!  Marin Rosenberg, eight-grade student at SJHS, said, “It lets people know what’s going on” at the junior high. This class is for eighth and ninth graders who have an interest in writing. Ms.Tiffanie Miley, journalism and English teacher at SJHS, said, “Students will learn how to ask good questions, how to be good listeners, how to organize their ideas, and how to write clearly.”

Registration begins February 22, and 23 for seventh and eight grade students.  This class requires an application at registration.  Mrs. Monica Distefano, eighth-grade counselor at SJHS, said, “This class is a really good experience to interview and get a new social experience. It’s great to see kids’ articles in the newspaper!”

For more information about this elective, go to the counseling center or talk to Ms. Miley.
