At SJHS we get the honor of congratulating Emma Page for winning the 2013 Diamond Fork  Winter Series Rodeo. According to Ms. Hamilton, a teacher at SJHS, Emma Page is in the high school rodeo, and she has been doing this for years. She also won two big belt buckles at the Winter Series Rodeo. Emma Page, a ninth grader at SJHS, said, “The people that run the rodeo can also give money and horse tack.” Springville Red Devils High School offers to let students sign up and participate in the rodeo. They also do races all over the country. According to Emma Page, she practices every weekend with her horse.

Emma also gives advice to people who are interested in taking rodeo for the first time. Emma said, “Practice is key and the more you work with your horse, the more it will teach both of you to be in rhythm together. So work with it and get to know your horse better.”  Rodeo is something her family does for a living. They taught her how and since then she has loved it because her family raised her to love rodeo and ever since, she has not stopped doing it. She loves it.

Emma Page also said, “I love doing this knowing that no matter what or how I do it. I’m just racing against myself and making improvements with myself and my horse.” She doesn’t always do barrel racing, she also does breakaway rope and pole bend. “Just knowing that no matter what I always enjoying what I’m doing and that I’m becoming better every time and the adrenaline rush!” said Emma.
