Fun in Foods Exploration

Foods Exploration is a class you can take when you are in eighth grade, and you can take Foods 1 in ninth grade. The foods teachers at SJHS are Mrs. Luke and Mrs. Murray. Mrs. Luke, a foods teacher at SJHS, said, “I love teaching kids a skill that they can use for the rest of their lives. The ability to cook helps a person be more self-sufficient, and it makes them feel great when they are able to create something yummy they can eat! I want them to be able to cook several meals/dishes by the end of the class, be able to read any recipe well enough that they can complete any dish successfully, and to learn about nutrition and be an amazing chef!”

Ryker Jenkins, a TA for Mrs. Luke, said, “I love cooking and making new friends. We made oreo truffles and they were so much fun to make and really yummy! I really learned how to cook and have fun while doing it. I would recommend this class for any upcoming eighth and ninth graders because Mrs. Luke is the bomb.com! She’s really fun and prepares you for when you move out.”

“My favorite part about foods is eating the food we made! All the food we made is pretty good, but the cookies were the best. I learned how to cook different kinds of food and it’s really fun to learn how to cook, too!” said Jordan Pruitt, a ninth grader at SJHS.

If you love to cook or want to learn how to cook, be sure to take Foods Exploration and Foods 1 in eighth and ninth grade!
