Lagoon Rocks SJHS

Scream! Shout! On May 22, everyone from SJHS is letting it all out at Lagoon! Mrs. Maughan, a ninth-grade English teacher, said, “I’m not sure when the tradition started but 13 years ago, when I was in junior high, we went to Lagoon too. It’s a fun end of year reward and celebration.”  All staff and students (if the students don’t have any non made up sluffs or tardies)  are invited to go spend a fun-filled day at the large amusement park in Farmington. Danny Salazar, a ninth grader, said, “I go so I can hang out with my friends and have fun. We also get to see teachers dressed up normal and it’s like ‘oh my gosh! You are normal!’ The school takes us to reward us for being awesome and to say thanks for paying and being good.”

Everyone who goes to Lagoon has a great time! Mrs. Maughan said, “Students and teachers both get to enjoy the park and ‘let loose.’ I love Lagoon! I never go to Farmington, so it is a lot of fun to ride roller coasters and act silly! My favorite part  is wearing shorts and being in the sun. It sounds silly, but I get tired of wearing dress pants and high heels every day. It is fun for me to relax and be myself.”

Everyone has varying about Lagoon and their favorite parts of the day! Mr. Mikesell, the dean of students, said, “I love it! I do think, however, we should only take the ninth graders or that we should be more strict with who can go. My favorite ride is Wicked, and I love seeing everyone having fun.”

Meanwhile Abbi Morris, an eighth grader, said, “It is fun to hang out with friends and go on freaky rides together!” While everyone loves Lagoon no one can really agree on what the best ride is. Abbi Morris and Mr. Mikesell like wicked, Abi Maccabee and Tessa Larsen like Samurai, and Danny Salazar likes the bus ride. Mrs. Maughan said, “My favorite ride is Rattlesnake Rapids. I always laugh because everyone tries to get out of the way, but we all end up getting soaked.”
