The New Face, Mrs. Canar

This year, there is a new teacher at Springville Junior High School. She came to our school mid-year, and is here to replace the old English teacher, Mr. Strong. Her name is Mrs. Canar, and she is very excited to be teaching here at our school!

Mrs. Canar has been teaching full time since 2010, and says she loves teaching English. “It is an important subject because effective communication is such a critical skill in any profession,” she said.  According to Mrs. Canar, she is really enjoying our school so far, and her favorite part about teaching at a junior high is the enthusiasm of the students and their eagerness to participate.

Even though she has been given the difficult responsibility of coming in after the school year started, the students of our school have been warm and welcoming to her as a new teacher! Even though her teaching styles may be different than Mr. Strong’s, the students in her class feel they are working productively as a group. Mrs. Canar deals with the challenging task of coming to a new school after the school year starts by focusing on how excited she is about the opportunity to teach here at SJHS. According to a few students in her class, Mrs. Canar gives out candy, uses reading logs, and likes to teach in an organized and professional way. “She stays on topic,” said eighth-grade SJHS student Alexis Pool.

Even though students think she is a more serious teacher and prefers to teach by the book, they also think she is a enjoyable and interesting person. “She’s a lot of fun!” said eighth grader Shyann Molster. According to eighth-grade student Alex Farrell, Mrs. Canar is a likeable teacher because she doesn't get mad at the students. In conclusion, Mrs. Canar has many great qualities, and will make a fantastic new addition to our staff here at Springville Junior High School!
