Oscars, and what happened

The 89th annual Oscars (held on February 26, 2017) may not actually be all that pertinent to students, but it's created memes, and they are of a pretty big importance to junior high students.

The main reason that this year's Academy Awards were so special, At the end of the ceremony, presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway came on stage to reveal the winner for Best Picture. Dunaway then read out La La Land from the card, proclaiming the movie best picture. All of La La Lands actors and writers and producers (etc.) streamed onto the stage. There was just one problem: Moonlight was the winner for Best Picture. The mistake was quickly corrected, but it will still go down in meme history, and is already all over the internet.

Some students had an opinion on the matter. Ethan Mageno said “ I'm kinda glad that La La land didn't win the best picture, because I wanted it to stay as a play.”

Many people will remember this year's oscars for many years to come.
