Dear SJHS parents and guardians:

We have had a great second week of school! It feels like we are really getting into a rhythm and things are running smoothly. As an administration, we are grateful for the flexibility of our students, parents, faculty, and staff; everyone’s efforts in helping us be able to attend school in person each day have really paid off!

When your child is absent from school, they should check our learning management systems (Canvas and Google Classroom) to see what they missed. Students have been learning how to use both Canvas and Google Classroom in their classes; they have learned how to navigate the learning management systems and how to submit assignments. We’re hoping that this time spent learning the systems in class will make things much easier if students need to miss any school.

Picture Day: Tuesday, 9/1/20

  • Picture packets were sent home with each student earlier this week. We have extras in the front office if students need one. If you would like to preview or preorder a picture packet, please visit bellphoto.com and enter the code SpringvilleJrfall20. (Please disregard the code I sent on Monday. I apologize for the incorrect information.)
  • All students will need to get their pictures taken for the yearbook and ID cards, even if they won’t be purchasing a picture packet.
  • Students should not wear hats or sunglasses in their school pictures, and their clothing should comply with Nebo District’s dress and grooming policy.
  • We’d like to invite any of our students participating in remote learning who are interested in school pictures to get their picture taken at 9:30 on October 6.

Cross Country meet: Thursday, 9/3/20

  • Our first cross country meet will be at Payson Junior High on Thursday.
  • Even though this is an outdoor event, spectators will still need to maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from individuals not of the same household. Spectators will be expected to wear a mask if it is not possible to stay six feet apart.

SHS Swim Meeting: Thursday, 9/3/20

  • Any 9th graders interested in participating in the Springville High School swim team, there is an athlete and parent meeting on September 3 at 6:30pm in the Springville High auditorium.

Attendance at Springville High School athletic events

  • The administration at Springville High School asked us to pass along the following message regarding attendance by junior high school students at SHS athletic events: All elementary and junior high students planning on attending Springville High School football games this season will only be admitted with an adult and must remain with that adult though the duration of the game. Junior High students will not be allowed to roam freely inside the gates. No scooters, skateboards, or bicycles will be allowed inside the gates. Masks must be worn at all times. These same guidelines apply to all Springville High athletic events.

The school district has asked us to pass along the district emergency manual. You can find emergency information here: http://www.nebo.edu/emergency

Please continue doing the daily symptom check with your child and keep them home if they are sick. We appreciate your support!

Have a good weekend,
