Right On Track!

Many students at Springville Junior High are participating in the school track and field team.  All students from 7th-9th grade are allowed to take part in this after school activity, and are able to take up to 4 events, with exceptions. Track meets are held on Fridays at high schools in Nebo School District.

The next meet they have is a home meet at Springville high school against Payson and Mapleton. Most kids are very excited and confident for this one based on the meet from last week. The track team went to Payson and Springville, the Knights, beat the Grizzlies.

The most common event that most kids seem to be competing  in is the 100 meter dash. Students love track and try to attend practice regularly. They are required to take attendance at the beginning of each practice to make sure that they get plenty of chances to try and work on getting faster scores.

Ella Stoddard, a seventh grader at Springville Junior High, is a sprinter and a thrower. She is very athletic and got 1st place in discus, and second place in the 200 and shot put! Her favorite event is discus. Carter Massey, also a seventh grader at Springville Junior High, is also a sprinter. He enjoys doing the 100, 200 and the 7th grade medley, a relay race that has the following events, two 100 meters, one 200 meter and a 400 meter to finish it up! .

It looks like we have a pretty strong track team this year so keep it up SJHS!
