Have you ever wondered what Shakespeare is? The Shakespeare students at SJHS are doing a play for the school. Most people wonder why we even have Shakespeare? It's all about understanding the language of it! Shakespeare all started in the year of 1564 when a guy named William Shakespeare happened.

A student at SJHS named Aimee Kelly said, “ I love Shakespeare because he is/was an amazing director and always doing fun and dramatic plays. Being in Shakespeare plays helps people come together as a team and it is so much fun.” That is Aimee’s favorite thing about Shakespeare, she plays the role of Bianca but she said that if she could change the role she played she would pick the role of Lady Macbeth or Macbeth because she has always wanted to be a Lead.

Also another student named Kimberly Bortolon said that she likes Shakespeare because “you get to act it all out with the whole entire cast. I also love getting to know other people.” Kimberly plays the part of Macbeth in the play and she says that she really likes that part. But she said if she could choose a different role to play she would pick Lady Macbeth because “ when she dies she gets to do a dance scene and I love to dance.”

Ms. Clement teaches drama here at our very own SJHS as well as MJHS. She teaches 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at Mapleton and the rest here at SJHS. According to Ms. Clement her favorite part of Shakespeare is “the emotions are super high and low, I also love Shakespeare because it is a really fun learning experience for the students.”

Cali Eggbert, a 9th grade student at SJHS, said that she loves being able to talk in a way they used to, and you get to understand the language. She also said that if she could pick a different part she would pick one of the witches because they are creepy, and creepy is always fun.

Ammon Elzinga another 9th grade student at SJHS loves Shakespeare because “you get to have fun almost everyday, and you are able to go crazy.” Most of the girls like Jamie Haws, Cali Eggbert, and Madeline Ungren said that if they could pick a different role to play they would choose the witches, because they are creepy, exciting, and also really fun.

Last but not not least another student at SJHS named Logan Herrick who play Macbeth in the play says “I love acting with my friends and having fun together.” So all in all Shakespeare is really fun and it's a rush.
