Springville Junior High School’s boys and girls choirs recently performed in the Nebo District Intermediate Choir Festival, along with four other schools: Mapleton, Spanish Fork, Mt. Nebo, and Payson Junior High Schools. Mrs. Leslie Walker, choir teacher at SJHS, said, “Each choir sang three songs. Then the judge came up and helped the choirs with a particular thing that he thought they needed to work on.” This choir festival was held at SJHS in the auditorium.

According to Katie Ashton, eighth grader at SJHS, the festival was fun, and they practiced really hard for the festival. Katie said, “I was a little nervous when we were being judged. You don’t know what score the judge is going to give you.” The Knightingales, girls’ choir at SJHS, sang “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” “Seal Lullaby,” and “Spinning Song.” Mrs. Walker was very happy with the Knightingales performance. She said, “The Knightingales did an outstanding job. The judge said we were fantastic! We got a 1 rating, which is the highest we could have received.” The Journeymen, boys choir at SJHS, sang “If You’ve Only Got A Mustache.”

Mrs. Walker said, “The purpose of the festival, was to bring together choirs from each of the junior high schools in our district, to sing for each other, and to be judged and helped by a professional choir director. It was fun to see the different uniforms from each school, and to hear their new songs.” According to the girls choir, they had a lot of fun listening and singing in the festival.
