Andalyn Hall and seeral other students at SJHS have just participated in the State Future Farmers of America (FFA) Career Development Event. FFA is the largest youth organization in the nation. They learn about everything in agriculture. Andalyn said, “I love all the different events that I can participate in. There is something for everyone.”

Springville did very well in the competition. Springville High School’s Agricultural Communications Team got first place and qualified for nationals for the second year in a row. There are a few ninth-grade students from SJHS on the the high school team: Andalyn Hall, Kira Craig, Katie Biesinger, Alex Valenzuela, and Caitlin Dinkel are all on the high school team. As an individual, Andalyn Hall got third place.

According to Andalyn, she joined FFA because she loves animals. “I wanted to learn more about potential jobs, animals, and things that interest me,” said Andalyn. There are three rankings or scores competitors can get. Either as an individual or as a team, they can get gold for first place, silver for second, and bronze for third. A gold ranking team also means that the team gets to represent Utah for the FFA National Convention. It takes a lot of work to get a gold rank. Andalyn said, “If you want to win it takes a lot of dedication.”
