Many of the teachers have come to SJHS only this year. Some of them have been here longer. Mr. Shields is one of those teachers. Mr. Shields is one of the history teachers at SJHS, and he has been teaching total for twenty-eight years, and has taught at SJHS for eight years. Mr. Shields teaches eighth grade U.S. History.

“I love teaching history,” said Mr. Shields. Many students like Mr. Shields and what he teaches.

“I love the projects we do, so far we have done the U.S. map which was fun,” said Alexis Garrett, an eighth grade student in Mr. Shields’ class.

In Mr. Shields’ eighth grade history class they do worksheets, lessons, notes, and big term projects. Once in awhile on Friday Mr. Shields teaches a life lesson. He drops history for that day and teaches the eighth graders one or two life skills that will help them through their lives.

“Mr. Shields is a really good teacher; I like his class,” said Melody Anderson, another eighth grade student in Mr. Shields’ class. Mr. Shields is an excellent teacher, but he also has interests outside of school. “I love to camp, ride dirt motorcycles, build big fires, and sports,” said Mr. Shields. He also loves spending time with his family, traveling, and reading.

History is a fun class to be in. Mr. Shields makes it fun for everyone. SJHS is grateful for all Mr. Shields does to help the students.
