Springville Junior High’s Very Own Girls Tennis Season is Coming to an End

Submitted by tara.pina on

Every year, SJHS has a girls tennis team in the fall, and a boys tennis team in the spring. Tennis is a very fun sport, many people enjoy playing it. Unfortunately, the girls’ season just came to an end.

Mr. Dahl, a science teacher at Springville Junior High, is the coach for tennis. There are 16 girls on the team this year. There is Lydia Felix, Christine White, Kelsey Sumsion, Amanda Gardner, Camille Cedeno, Emily Snyder, Mazey Schofield, Elizabella Francom, Gracie Sentz, Calli Egbert, Halle Platt, Libby Hodson, Maizie Thompson, Paige Simpson, Calianne Skinner, and Cheyenne Skinner. They had a wonderful season, and played very well.

Kelsey Sumsion, an 8th grade girl, was on the team. She chose to do tennis this year because she did it last year, and Mr. Dahl was her science teacher. She says, “I like tennis because my whole family plays. My favorite part is practicing as a team.” Kelsey loves having Mr. Dahl as a coach because he has cute kids, and is his TA (teacher assistant) next semester. She says she might be on the tennis team again next year.

Emily Snyder, also an 8th grade girl, participated as well. She says that she and her grandpa play a lot, and have been ever since she was little. “I love it because it’s a lot of fun getting to know the girls, and work hard,” Emily says. She loves meeting the girls and just working hard as a team. She goes on to say that she likes having Mr. Dahl as a coach. She is going to be on the tennis team again next year.

If you’re a 9th grader, and want to do tennis next year in high school, you’re in luck! Springville High School has a tennis team that you can join! If you’re a seventh or eighth grader, you can still take tennis next year if you want to. It sounds like it’s a great experience, and so much fun!
