The new Chivalry Award 200.69 KB

This year has brought many changes that are unexpected.  One of them is the Chivalry Award.  This is the first year it has been introduced.  According to Mr. Rowley, one of the assistant principals, he and Mr. McGuire, the principal, came up with it.  According to Mrs. Porter, a US history and Utah Studies teacher, we have so many great students here, and this is a great way to honor more.  Each teacher will get to choose one student for the award.

To get this award, Mrs. Porter said that the student would have to treat their classmates with respect and go the extra mile to be an ally.  Mr. Rowley said, the students need “[to] go above and beyond in a class or show substantial improvement in a class.”

We will honor them each month in the Super Knight Assembly, with the Super Knights of that month. Since every teacher gets to choose one student, there will be around 40 students presented with the Chivalry Award each month, starting with the Super Knight Assembly in October.

Mrs. Porter said, “I am extremely excited to see more of my students and other students get the award.” She said that she is looking forward to seeing who is chosen for the award.  According to Ahna Hullinger, an eighth grader here at SJHS, when she won the Super Knight, she enjoyed it. She is glad that we are going to have the opportunity to honor more students, and give them a good experience.

Mrs. Porter said, “We have so many great students at SJHS who do so many great things when no one is looking, so I love the opportunity to recognize more amazing students.”
