We Have a New Student Government!

Submitted by jennifer.dunn on

On Monday, May 5th, seventh and eighth grade students elected the student council for the 2014-2015 school year!  The winners of the election were Jared Buhler, Easton Call, Zack Dalley, Lauryn Davis, Ryker Jenkins, Claire Pexton, and Chloe Wimmer.

Lauryn Davis said, “When they called my name, it felt like everything stopped.  I was like, ‘Did I hear that right?’  I was really surprised!  I want to be on student council so that instead of just coming to school, I can come to school and actually make a difference daily.”

Ryker Jenkins said that he wants to be on student council to bring more excitement to the students for school activities.  “Students never really feel a need to participate in school activities, and I want to change that.”

Chloe Wimmer said, “I was really relieved when they called my name; running for student council is a lot more stress than you would think.  I want to make sure that every single student gets included. No one should feel left out of anything.”

Claire Pexton said she would like to put some trash cans outside so the fields are not as messy.

Zack Dalley said that he was very happy when his name got called.  He is excited to add a fun spirit to the council and make new friends.

Jared Buhler said that he hopes to add a good attitude and a fun personality  to the council, and he hopes to help solve problems at SJHS.

Easton Call said, “I was really excited when my name was called, but I also felt really bad for the people who didn’t get in.  I was kind of confused, ‘Do I celebrate, or do I cry?’  I want to be on student council because I feel like it’s one of the best ways to give back to the teachers for all that they do, and it’s a really good way to get to know new people.  I hope to add creative ideas and lots of excitement and energy to the council.”
