“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.”                                                  -Andre Gide

Ms. Miley, one of the assistant principals at SJHS, said, “I think it means that in order to achieve great things we have to be able to take that risk.”

Mrs. Distefano, the seventh grade counselor, said, “ You have to be willing to take risks to improve.”

Makayla Gee, a seventh grade girl at SJHS, said,  “that you have to have courage to do something, if not you can't discover something new.”

Alexia Gornichec, an eighth grade student at our school, said, “ I think it means that to find new things you have to come out of your comfort zone a little.”

Holly Hill, another eighth grade student at SJHS agreed.  She said, “ You have to be able to step out of your comfort zone to do great things, and you have to give things up in order to accomplish your dreams.”

Spencer McQueen, an eighth grade boy at SJHS, said, “A man cannot find new stuff unless he has courage to go out and find it.”

Spencer Johnson, a ninth grade boy at SJHS said, “ If you never partake of new opportunities than you can't succeed.  If you let go a little you can find a new path in life.”

You can decide what it means to you.
