Student Spotlight

Here at SJHS we are divided by age and learning skill into seventh, eighth and ninth grade, or page, squire, and knight.  With each grade comes new experiences, but to really understand the grade one must get to know the students in it.

7th-

Kinzie Lewis- Kinzie likes to watch General Hospital, a popular day-time soap opera, in her free time.  She enjoys seventh grade, and according to her, it is more challenging than elementary school, and you get straight A’s if you work hard. She thinks the opportunity to take more classes is interesting as well.  Kinzie hopes to get straight A’s and join the school musical later in the year.

Nate Conrad- Nate likes to play sports and is a die hard BYU fan.  The sport he plays is mainly basketball.  He likes to hang out in the halls with his friends during school, and hang out with them after school, often times at the skate park next to the old SJHS.  Nate enjoys the new freedom of being in junior high, because he does not have to be in just one classroom all day.  What Nate hopes to accomplish this year is, “to get straight A’s.”

Carson Benson- Carson is also into sports.  He mainly plays football, but he also likes soccer.  Carson also likes being in seventh grade because of the freedom and the many classes that are available to him.  Carson hopes to get straight A’s all year as well.

8th-

Carson Bracken- Carson is another sports fan, and he mainly plays soccer.  He also likes to hang out with his friends in and outside of school.  Carson likes the new building because of all the new things he gets to use, such as a Chromebook in Journalism, and the many new electives that were unavailable last year.  He hopes to pull straight A’s all year.

Devon Cutler- Devon just likes to talk with his friends plain and simple.  The new building’s space is enjoyed by this eighth grader.  He hopes to accomplish a whole year of straight A’s.

Kosner Lewis- Kosner likes to ski in his free time and dirtbike in the summer.  He likes the new school because of all the new space in the halls and the classroom.  He hopes to succeed in the Sundance Ski team this coming winter, which he plans to join, and get straight A’s.

9th-

Cole Monson- Cole enjoys tennis.  While he is in school, he likes to draw and doodle.  Cole also likes the new building because it is bigger and the halls are wider.  Cole wants all A’s and wants to make the high school tennis team.

Ethan Pratt- Ethan spends his time playing basketball.  Ethan is a transfer from Reagan and likes the new school building.  He likes it because it is a lot bigger than his old school.  Ethan is hoping for straight A’s and is considering trying out for the ninth grade basketball team.

Parker Park- Parker is a familiar face at the skate park next to the old SJHS.  He likes to scooter and practice jumps in his freetime.  He likes the new school, but enjoys ninth grade even more because, “it feels good being the oldest of the new school.”  Parker wants to get straight A’s as well this year.

As we can see the lives of SJHS students are diverse, but held together by a common desire to succeed.  No matter what grade they are in everyone seems to want a successful year at SJHS.
