Dear SJHS families:
We have several different events going on this week:
Yesterday our Spanish 4 class got to participate in a piñata workshop with piñata artist, Clara Amezcua.
They also enjoyed some quesadillas, chips & salsa!
Happy 5 de mayo from us here at SJHS!
Thanks to Mrs. Denis & Mrs. Bishop for sharing some 5 de mayo fun!
Señora Tinajero taught our ESL class today about the history of Cinco de Mayo, and how currently it's mostly celebrated as a cultural appreciation day throughout the U.S. and a lot of Latin America. To celebrate some of Mexico's cultural history, we learned about "Ojos de Díos" that were made and used by the Huichol Indians. - Mrs. Denis

Our end-of-level testing begins this week for both 8th and 9th graders. Testing security protocols from the state instruct that students should not be able to access their phones during the testing period. For our end-of-level tests, teachers will ask students to put their phones in their backpacks and then put all of their backpacks at the front of the classroom. When the class period is over, students will be able to retrieve their backpacks from the front of the room. We will make announcements over the next few days regarding this testing procedure, but if you could also talk about it with your child, it would be very helpful.
