Student Spotlight: Kenley O’Bannon

Submitted by tara.pina on Mon, 10/19/2020 - 11:54

Jesse Owens once said, “We all have dreams but in order to make dreams into reality it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” I think this is a perfect example of one of our seventh graders, Kenley O’Bannon. Kenley O’Bannon is a seventh-grader here at SJHS and is certainly a bright student. She is very eager to learn and is always looking out for others. She is really liking Jr. High so far, and she really enjoys how much positivity, kindness, and equality that is shown at school.

Dear SJHS parents and guardians:

We hope you had a good weekend! Fall Break is this Thursday and Friday, October 15 and 16.

As we approach the end of first term (October 29), parents wanting to change their child’s learning option for second term from Remote Learning to At-School Learning, or vice versa, can do so by submitting their decision in this survey before October 20. If parents do not wish to change their student’s learning option at this time, they do not need to submit a survey response.

A couple attendance reminders:

Dear SJHS parents and guardians,

The best way to order school lunch and/or breakfast for students who are not at school is to fill out a survey each day for each student. This includes remote learning students of all grades. You will need to order before 9:00am each morning. Meals are only provided on scheduled school days. For special circumstances, you can still call the school at 801-489-2886 to place your order.

Looking into Emily Sumsion

Submitted by tara.pina on Tue, 09/29/2020 - 10:32

Emily Sumsion is one of the many great ninth-graders here at Springville Junior High. Emily is also a great runner and a great friend. One of Emily’s favorite things about being back at school is getting to see all of her friends. Emily’s favorite sports to do are Cross Country and Track. “My favorite thing about running is getting to meet a lot of new people and that it is something I have done my whole life.” She is even on the Springville High School Cross Country team. Besides running she also likes to paint and do DIY’s from 5-minute crafts. If Emily could only use one word to describe herself she would use the word cool.
