KYLIE ANDERSON: If you haven’t met her before, you are literally missing out!

Submitted by tara.pina on Wed, 02/24/2021 - 11:29

First of all, Kylie is astronomically amazing. She absolutely loves our school and her friends and is a very positive person who will always support you and won’t judge you. Her vibe is immaculate. I actually asked her if she liked our school and she responded in her own iconic way: “Duh.. of course, I like my school! My friends are here!" Fun fact, Kylie’s favorite class is English because she loves the “chill vibe.” Something Kylie would like for people to know is that she is not mean, she might look intimidating, but really she’s the sweetest human being. So, therefore, Kylie is astronomically amazing and if you haven’t talked to or met her, I encourage you to do it!

Getting to know Braelyn Holbrook

Submitted by tara.pina on Wed, 02/24/2021 - 10:44

Braelyn Holbrook is one of the many amazing ninth-graders here at Springville Junior. Braelyn Holbrook’s favorite things to do are playing sports and being outdoors. If she could learn to do anything she would want to learn how to play piano. “Oregon is my favorite place I have traveled to because lots of my closest cousins live there and it is so pretty. It’s got some cool beaches and there are lots of pretty trees.“ Braelyn’s favorite part of school is being with her friends. “My favorite class is choir because it is fun and I look forward to it each day. It also has a lot of good energy.” Braelyn’s advice for the seventh and eighth graders is to be friends with everyone and be including to everyone.

Dear SJHS parents and guardians:

We’d like to thank you for your support of our food drive! Within two days our students had filled the barrels provided by Utah Community Action. By the end of the week, the number of barrels had doubled and we still had boxes full of food that didn’t fit. Thank you for your generosity! Thank you to our Latinos in Action class, our student council, and our PTA for facilitating this week’s food drive! Here are the events for next week:

  • No school on Monday, February 15 -- Presidents’ Day

Dear SJHS parents and guardians:

We are happy to update you that the confirmed daily COVID-19 case counts at our school have started to decline. Therefore, the District has let us know that they do not plan to “Test to Stay” or move us to an “Alternating Day Schedule.” Of course, student safety and success are always our top priority. Thank you for following the guidelines and keeping your students home from school if they aren’t feeling well or if someone in your household is awaiting test results. This is reducing the contacts that we are seeing here at school.

Who is Cressida Roper?

Submitted by tara.pina on Mon, 02/01/2021 - 09:21

Cressida Roper swings at the racket with everything she has as she races down the tennis court.  If you haven't noticed yet, Cressida does tennis which is her favorite activity “because it's fun and I can learn helpful things.” But when Cressida isn't on the court, she's here in school. Her favorite class is Seminary “because it's a nice environment.” Cressida is not only a great tennis player but also a great friend and student, and her family and friends are there to support her all the way.

The wrestling team gets a great addition!

Submitted by tara.pina on Sun, 01/31/2021 - 23:16

As most of the school knows it is officially wrestling season! And this season brings so many great beginnings. On the wrestling team, there is a brand new girls team! On that team, they have a great 9th-grade wrestler named Laura Weakley. Laura is a great wrestler and her dad is actually the coach for the SJHS wrestling team. When asked how it was like having a wrestling coach right in her living room she said: “I like having him because I can get extra practice at home or whenever I want.” Wrestling runs in her family so she is pretty experienced.
