Dear SJHS parents and guardians:
We have had a great first week of school. Students are finding their way around, and our teachers have enjoyed getting to know the students in their classes! Our homeroom classes met for the first time today. The purpose of homeroom is to give students academic, emotional, and social support. Students will get to know each other, build positive relationships, and develop a sense of belonging. Homeroom will meet each Monday and Friday between 2nd and 3rd periods.
Next week’s events:
Tuesday August 24
- Picture day! Students will take school pictures in their English classes on Tuesday. They should bring home a picture packet this afternoon. If you would prefer to pre-order pictures online, please see the Bell Photography flyer. Please include your student’s English teacher’s name on the order form.
- There will be a girls tennis meeting for any girls who are interested in trying out for the tennis team. The meeting will be held in Mr. Dahl's Room, S218, right after school. If you can't make it, just talk to Mr. Dahl for information.
Wednesday, August 25
- Stand4Kind Assembly during second period
We’ve had a couple close calls in our student drop-off zone. Some of our students are hurrying into the building and don’t always pay close attention to the cars around them. When you are dropping off and picking up, please watch for students who are not paying attention. When you use the drop-off zone in the morning, please keep in mind that it is only two lanes. When cars are parked at the curb and another line of cars tries to exit in between the two parked rows, it gets hectic. Please pull in as far as you can, and then have your students quickly exit the vehicle so we can keep the traffic moving. Thank you for your support!

Hemos tenido una gran primera semana de clases. ¡Los estudiantes están encontrando su camino y nuestros maestros han disfrutado conociendo a los estudiantes en sus clases! Nuestras clases de salón de tutoría (homeroom) se reunieron por primera vez el día de hoy. El propósito principal del salón de tutoría es brindar a los estudiantes apoyo académico, emocional y social. Los estudiantes se conocerán, construirán relaciones positivas y desarrollarán seguridad y confianza escolar. La clase de tutoría (homeroom) se reunirá todos los lunes y viernes entre el segundo y el tercer períodos.

Martes, 24 de agosto
- ¡Día de fotos! Los estudiantes se tomarán sus fotografías escolares en sus clases de inglés el día martes. Llegarán a su casa con un paquete de fotografías esa tarde. Si prefiere hacer un pedido por anticipado de fotografías en línea, consulte el folleto de Bell Photography. Por favor incluya el nombre del maestro de inglés de su estudiante en el formulario de pedido.
- Habrá una reunión para las chicas que estén interesadas en participar en el equipo de tenis. La reunión se llevará a cabo en el salón S-218 del Sr. Dahl, inmediatamente después que finalicen las clases del día. Si no puede asistir, simplemente hable con el Sr. Dahl para obtener información.

- Asamblea de Stand4Kind durante el segundo período
Hemos tenido un par de llamadas cercanas en nuestra zona de entrega de estudiantes. Algunos de nuestros estudiantes se apresuran a entrar al edificio y no siempre prestan mucha atención a los autos que los rodean. Cuando deje y recoja, esté atento a los estudiantes que no están prestando atención. Cuando use la zona de entrega por la mañana, tenga en cuenta que solo tiene dos carriles. Cuando los autos están estacionados en la acera y otra línea de autos intenta salir entre las dos filas estacionadas, se vuelve frenético. Por favor, acérquese lo más que pueda y luego haga que sus estudiantes salgan rápidamente del vehículo para que podamos mantener el tráfico en movimiento. ¡Gracias por tu apoyo!
