Ball is Life

 Some people have a lot of different opinions on their favorite sports. Some like soccer, others like football, but no one loves basketball like SJHS. This year there is a whole new 9th grade boys team and they’re ready to play their favorite game. They consist of twelve awesome 9th graders, all strong, hard-working, basketball killing machines. Basketball Student Section

SJHS has a really good basketball team, both girls and boys, but what brings the team together is our student section.  The student section is there to cheer on the team and to watch their peers play basketball. SJHS’s basketball would not be the same without the student section.

Girls Basketball Coaches

        A coach is someone that guides the team. The girls basketball team practices every day that they don't have a game. The coaches are a big part of the team, they lead them. A coach devotes their time to the team so they can achieve greatness.

Christmas at SJHS

As soon as December hits, Christmas time is in full swing at SJHS. Kids are wearing Christmas sweaters and Santa hats. Many kids at SJHS love Christmas time. Some students tell us what their favorite thing about Christmas, Benson Digtrups favorite thing about Christmas is opening presents. Doesn’t everyone love presents! Liz Wattford tells her favorite thing about Christmas, “ I love when it is snowing outside and you can see the snowflakes coming down. It looks so pretty. “ Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow. Jenna Nun loves spending time with her family. Don’t we love seeing our family. “ I love all of the Christmas traditions that my family has,” Claire Kieffer tells us.

Red Ribbon Week at SJHS

 During Red Ribbon Week at SJHS, the students have lots to look forward to. The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week each year. Here at Springville Jr High, we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week by participating in dress up days, and going to a kick-off assembly Monday morning. During the assembly police officer Craig Martinez came and talked about drug safety. During the assembly, they also introduced our dress up days for the week and the daily challenges.  Many students favorite dress up day is the crazy sock day, because it was easy to find fun socks to wear.

Christmas Concert at SJHS

Nothing brings the Christmas spirit like music, and this Christmas Choir Concert is just the right thing to bring in the joy of this holiday season.  Jocelyn Hunt, one of the alto’s in the master singers choir group said, “ The reason I chose to do choir is because I love to sing and so does the rest of our choir.

Orchestra Concert Fun

The orchestra concert was the best thing you’ve heard this year!! The orchestra concert was definitely the best! Gianna Furner, Paige Smith, and Ana Laine were asked some questions and here are their responses. Do you think all your hard work was worth it? Gianna Furner said, “Yes because I got to express my emotions and it was fun!” I really like how they enjoy doing what they love! Did you enjoy playing in the concert? Why? Paige Smith said, “Yes because it was satisfying to show friends and family all the hard work we have done.” What was your favorite part? Ana Laine said “playing all the songs.” Gianna plays the violin and Ana and Paige play the cello!
