Everyone is preparing for the next step of 2020 and for Springville Junior High that means the 6th grade tours. The 6th graders came on January 28th and January 31st, and the Student Council members were asked to give them a tour of our school. Coleman Jarvis, a member of the Student council,  states, “They told me to prepare to answer their questions and make them feel like home here at our school because it’s a hard transition.” The main goal of doing these tours is to introduce the 6th graders to our school and to help them to be less nervous about coming to the Junior High. Gibson Condie, another Student Council member, said that his favorite part was, “Hanging out with the student council and sharing the fun opportunities with the new 6th graders.”  Aside from the tours, we also held an assembly to show the upcoming 7th graders the different classes that we offer here. This assembly included different performances from the choir, the band, the orchestra, and our drama department. The drama department showed the improvisational skills and fun things that they could learn in the drama classes we offer here. Mr. Booth, the band teacher also showed off some of the instruments that they could play if they chose to join the band. All together the assembly was really fun and helped the 6th graders to fully understand what they could be apart of at our school. We finished off the tours by giving the 6th graders and Student Council members cookies, and gave them a chance to get to know new people. Tom Wilde of the Student Council said, “I liked when we got to introduce ourselves on the stage and afterward we got cookies so that was really fun!”
