Dear SJHS parents and guardians:
We are looking forward to our first parent-teacher conference next Thursday from 3:30 to 7:00pm. Our PTA is generously providing dinner for our teachers that afternoon. If you would like to help out, please click here to see the different salads that can be donated. We have been excited to see about 50 more students eating breakfast and 150 more students eating lunch each day this week. One breakfast and one lunch are now free each day for SJHS students. Our food services staff have done a great job keeping up with the increased demand!
Teachers are updating our learning management systems, Canvas or Google Classroom, at the end of each school day. If your child is absent, please encourage them to check Canvas or Classroom so they can be caught up when they return to school. The return to school will go much smoother if students are able to check online and stay up to date.
Next week’s calendar items:
- Monday, 9/21/20: Minimal Day -- Students will be released at 11:15. Breakfast will be served, but lunch will not.
- Tuesday, 9/22/20: Girls tennis vs. Diamond Fork Junior High @ Springville Junior High School at 3:30. Please maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from individuals not of the same household. Spectators will be expected to wear a mask if it is not possible to stay six feet apart.
- Thursday, 9/24/20: Parent-teacher conferences in classrooms from 3:30 to 7:00pm. / Girls tennis vs. Spanish Fork Junior High @ Springville High School at 3:30
- Friday, 9/25/20: Cross Country at home vs. Diamond Fork and Payson Junior at 4:30. Please maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from individuals not of the same household. Spectators will be expected to wear a mask if it is not possible to stay six feet apart. Please be especially aware of this at the finish line.
Parent-Teacher Conferences:
We will be changing our procedures this year to limit the number of people in the building that evening. Rather than meeting in the gym, teachers will be available in their classrooms. Prior to coming to the conferences that evening, we would like to encourage all parents and students to log in to iCampus to check the current status of grades and missing assignments. If you are able to get this information online ahead of time, it will allow parents and teachers to have fuller conversations that evening.
We are asking that each family limit their attendance to one parent and child where possible. There will be chairs in the hallway where you can wait for teachers to become available. We would like to specifically invite parents of students who may be struggling in school. If your child is doing well in all of their classes, please email teachers if you have any questions or concerns.
Each department will also hold those Zoom meetings on the following days from 2:30 - 4:00pm:
- Tuesday, 9/29/20: English, Fine Arts
- Wednesday, 9/30/20: Math, World Language, Dual Language Immersion
- Thursday, 10/1/20: Science, PE, Health
- Friday, 10/2/20: Social Studies, CTE
We will send out additional information next week with information about how to make appointments with teachers for the zoom meetings.

Esperamos con ansias nuestra primera conferencia de padres y maestros el próximo jueves de 3:30 a 7:00 pm. Nuestra PTA ofrece generosamente una cena para nuestros maestros esa tarde. Conferencias de padres y maestros:
