The art classes will so release a surprise to the students of Springville Junior High. But it’s not just the art class; anyone can help. The more people that help, the sooner it will be done, and hanging on the wall.

Mr. Mitch Cudney, art teacher at SJHS, is trying to round up students to help complete the art mural he started last year. When the mural is completed, it will hang on the wall near the knight at the entrance to our school. Mr. Cudney wants to invite students to come work on it during Quest Time or after school. If students want to help, the project will be held in the art room (room 12B). Mr. Cudney hopes to have the mural completed soon. But that can only happen if students help. Jared Lee, a seventh grader at SJHS, has been helping with the mural. He said that he likes working on it, but the little bits of paper are sometimes hard to work with. Sarah Cheney, an eighth grader at SJHS, has also been contributing to the big picture. She said that “Sometimes it’s hard to find time, but it’s worth it in the end.”

Mr. Cudney said that he wanted to do a big (9’ x 6’) mural so a lot of people could be a involved, and it will be a “nice picture” for the whole school to enjoy. The mural  will be a mosaic. Mosaic is a type of art where the artist(s) make a decoration of small, usually colored pieces of inlaid stone, glass, tile, or similar materials. In this case, students will be ripping small pieces of painted paper, and gluing them onto a larger paper square of paper, and gluing those squares together to make a picture. The actual image will be a surprise.
