Editor of the Springville Independent News, Christi Babbitt came to Springville Junior High School’s journalism class on November 18.  Jed Barker, an eighth-grade journalism student, said, “I felt honored that she would take time out of her day to come and visit us.” Christi wanted to thank the journalism students for the quality of the stories and the sheer number of stories they send to the Springville Independent News.

Christi gave the students advice on writing articles for the newspaper. She said, “learn how to spell, double check, use commas, learn about good grammar, and practice writing to get better and better.” According to Allyson Smith, another journalism student, Christi gave the class lots of good info and tips.

Christi talked to the journalism class about how the Newspaper works and how much space she has in the newspaper to put in articles. Christi said, “the newspaper runs on basically three people, so you need to know how to do everything in the newspaper.” So if you want to be a editor like Christi then you should sign up for journalism class next term to learn what it’s like to be a journalist.
