The AMAZING sewing class at SJHS

Here at Springville Junior High School we have many elective classes you can take. There are classes like Art, Spanish, Science Enrichment and Peer Tutor. All of those classes are so much fun to everyone! Did you know one of the most popular electives is the Sewing elective class? Kids have been saying to people that it is super exciting and you get to make all of your own projects to take home. Students should consider taking this exciting class.

The students that take this sewing class will make at least five major projects. These projects are making a backpack, pj’s, quilt blocks, chef aprons, and a mystery project. In other words, their own project that they choose. These are just some of the required projects in the sewing class. Darien Karren, an eighth-grade student here at SJHS, said, “This class is very fun because we get to learn how to make different things. The students get to learn more about what they do.”

Mrs.Diane Bird is the teacher behind all of this. She said, “I love teaching sewing, my students learn a little bit more about how clothing is made, they learn how to do something with their hands. It relieves stress.” Mrs. Bird has known how to sew since she was just in the second grade. Her mother taught her around then. She loves what she does, and she loves the students she teaches. She is an amazing teacher to her students.

The students here at SJHS, love to learn how to sew with their hands and be better with the machine. Everyone  has taken the sewing because of the fun activities  or is taking it because of the teacher, Mrs. Bird. This is why they should consider taking this fun class in the years 2012-13. It will be very exciting for the students!
