English Superhero Here to Teach

Submitted by jennifer.dunn on

As many of you know Ms. Miley, a former English teacher, recently became an administrator. With her moving up we needed a new English teacher to take her place. This new teacher is Mr. Tonkinson, who likes to call himself an English Superhero.

Mr. Tonkinson chose an English teaching route because he felt it was what he is best at. He said, “First, I discovered I loved teaching. Then I discovered that the English classroom would best utilize my strengths.”

Mr. Tonkinson says that the reason he loves English is because,  “English is power.  If we understand English, we have the power to create, to communicate, and make the world around us better.  English makes me feel like a superhero.”

Students and staff love this new teacher. Jaymon Jordan, a seventh grade student, was full of praises for Mr. Tonkinson. He said, “I like the way he talks and explains stuff.” Jaymon also mentioned how well Mr. Tonkinson can control the class in a positive way.

Ms. Neeley, an English teacher, said, “ He has great ideas, and he is really nice.  I think his students are going to love him!”

Ms. Miley, an administrator, said, “Mr. Tonkinson is really talented and creative--he loves teaching writing, which I think will be really fun for his classes.  He cares about students and wants to provide them with the best possible education.”

Both Ms. Miley and Ms. Neeley mentioned how willing he is to ‘jump right in’.

Mr. Tonkinson is going to add a ‘super’ spark to this school year.
