On Wednesday, December 4th, the Band classes at SJHS gave their first performance of the year.

Each grade performed at a different time starting with the seventh graders.  They performed at six o’clock pm.  Some of the songs they performed are: “Stompin’ on the Housetop,” “Christmas Fun,” and “Heroes and Glory.”

They were followed by the eighth graders at seven o’clock pm.  Some of the songs they performed include: “Jefferson County Overture,” “Mission Impossible,” and “Christmas Feast.”

Lastly came the ninth graders at eight o’clock pm.  Some of the songs they performed are: “Hark! The Herald Tubas Sing,” “The Magic of Harry Potter,” and “Christmas at the Movies.”

Mr. Booth, the band teacher, said, “The first band performance of the year was great!  The students did an excellent job!”

Ninth grader, Josh Rassmussen, said, “Honestly I was a little nervous about the band performance.”  Josh went on to explain that he was nervous because there was a special solo for the clarinets that he was a part of.

Chloe Wilson, a ninth grader in band, said, “It was fun to play; I love band.”

Josh Rassmussen also said he was excited for the next performance which he says will be in the spring.  Chloe Wilson is also excited for the spring performance saying that she is looking forward to the new pieces they are going to play.

Let us congratulate the band on a job well done and look forward to their next performance in Spring 2014.
