A Fresh Set of Seventh Graders are Coming to SJHS

Starting on March 26th, the sixth graders from all over Springville came to explore the next stage in their education: Springville Junior High. According to the seventh-grade English teachers and the counselors, the future seventh graders are coming to get to know the teachers, the classes, and also just to get familiar with the school. To help the sixth graders on their journey through their first year of junior high, the current  seventh graders recently made survival guides using knowledge from the experiences they’ve had  this year.

Last year’s survival guide was a success to students. According to Destiny Johnson, a seventh grader at SJHS, the survival guide she got last year had really good information about the junior high.  According to Ms. McBride, a seventh-grade English teacher at Springville Junior High, the seventh graders made the survival guides to help the new sixth graders feel welcome when they come in the school. There is a lot to soak in and think about when you are starting junior high, so giving the sixth graders flyers makes it easier to know what is important and that everything will be okay. Ms. Neeley, another seventh-grade English teacher said, “The survival guide tells new seventh graders what to expect. It also gives them tips about what  to do before school starts and what to do during  the first week.”  According to Claire Pexton, a seventh grader at SJHS, the survival guide will help the sixth graders.

Mrs. Distefano, a counselor at SJHS said, “Make new friends at the junior high!” According to some seventh graders, all you need in junior high is to be yourself, be confident, be brave, and finally, just have fun!
