Gifted and Talented

Gifted and Talented is an enrichment group put on by Mr. Hansen and Mr. Hatfield, both teachers here at Springville Jr. High. “I was selected in seventh grade by Mr. Hansen and Mr. Hatfield to be in Gifted and Talented based off of my test scores from elementary school. I really like the field trips we go on because they are really fun, but I also like the enrichment we do in the library,” Holly Hill, an eighth grader, said.

There are groups of Gifted and Talented students from each grade. “It is a program where we get to go places and learn about them! My favorite field trip we went on was to T-Bones, a Chinese restaurant, to learn about the Chinese culture,” said Zach Dalley, an eighth grader in the Gifted and Talented group.

“The field trips are so much fun! Going to the State Capitol building was a lot of fun and just getting to hang out with my friends is really great!” said Lily Udall, a seventh grader in the Gifted and Talented group.

“The students in Gifted and Talented get in by their test scores. They have to be in the top 95% to be accepted in. We also do it by teacher recommendations. This is an enrichment program for the more advanced students to go beyond regular classroom stuff,” said Mr. Hatfield, a science teacher here at SJHS.
