Great Weather, Great PE Class

The sun shining, a nice breeze blowing, and students shouting. This is the image people  would see if they went to Springville Junior High School. Now days SJHS, students get to go outside. They started to go outside the week after spring break, and have been doing more things outside as the year progresses. According to Coach Parker, the SJHS boys PE teacher, he thinks that the change of scenery is good and the students are enjoying being outside. Students here appreciate the nice weather and being able to play sports outdoors. Chris Esklund, a ninth-grade student at SJHS, said, “Being able to do PE outside is really nice, and students can really play the games because inside is too small to actually play the games  sometimes.”

Some of the outside sports in PE are flag football, disc golf, ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, soccer, tennis, kickball, and softball. Most students like playing these sports outside and get to run around in the grass. “It’s nice to come to school and not have to sit in a desk all class period, but be able to enjoy the sunshine for a while,” said Lauren Lyons, a ninth grader at SJHS. Students also get fun ideas for the summer when they are outside. According to Shelby Christensen, a ninth-grade student at SJHS, she is glad she learned how to play flag football so now she will be able to play it with her friends over the summer. Students at SJHS are glad to have the sunshine around and that they can enjoy it during PE. For this summer, as Coach Parker said, “Let’s get out and do something active!”
