If you would like to learn a different language, understand Spanish soap operas and finally be ahead of “Dora la exploradora”  then the Spanish class is right for you. Spanish is available to all grades, for seventh graders it is only an intro course but you can take Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 eight and ninth-grade year; in these courses you will go more in depth into the language.

Mr. Glen Beebe is the Spanish teacher at SJHS; he has been teaching here for seven years. He learned his Spanish in college and went to the Dominican Republic for a couple years. “I love it when I see students who are learning Spanish for the first time using the language with their friends,” said Mr. Beebe. “I love seeing the enthusiasm.”

Graduation doesn't require any foreign language credit but, if you would want to get into any good college or university then it would be smart to take at least two years of any foreign language. The Spanish 1 class emphasizes on vocabulary, basic grammar and communication. Students are expected to practice speaking Spanish inside and outside the classroom.

“It’s very wonderful,” said Landon Simkins, an eighth grader, at SJHS, “I like spending time with amigos learning a different language.”
