Introducing… Mrs. Wallace as the New Art Teacher

Submitted by jennifer.dunn on

A new school year means new faces to meet! This year, Springville Junior High has an abundance of new teachers. One of them is Mrs. Wallace, our new art teacher. She started teaching as a full-time teacher on Monday, September 9th. Before then, Mrs. Wallace had been teaching art courses in her basement studio and volunteering at schools in Vermillion, South Dakota. She is excited to have the opportunity to teach here at our Junior High school. She has great ideas for teaching her students. She plans on covering new techniques as well as old, learning more about the history of art, and for some of her classes, an outside museum experience. Each art class will have unique opportunities to learn and use art. “We will also be inviting guest artists from time to time and are excited to have the art show coming up during the Christmas Concert,” Mrs. Wallace said. There is a lot of positive feedback on welcoming Mrs. Wallace as the new art teacher. Students are excited to learn from Mrs. Wallace. Brynn Patton, a ninth grade student from the drawing class, said, “I like her a lot, because she teaches more about techniques instead of just free drawing. She is very nice, and I think she’ll be really awesome.” Chloe Potter, another ninth grader from the drawing class, is looking forward to learning new techniques. “I can tell she has a lot of experience. I’m excited for a new perspective on art.”   Mrs. Wallace loves the outdoors and spending time with her six kids. She enjoys working on art with her husband, a master printmaker. She said, “I am excited for this adventure.”
