On Tuesday, March 11 the Latinos In Action went to UVU for a Lations In Action conference. The Latinos In Action conference is about inspiring young Latinos to keep going in their education, and follow the examples of great leaders.  Schools from all over the county went to UVU. Some schools performed a dance number or poems or essays. Our own Springville High School performed a dance.

The Latinos In Action had some guest speakers talk to them.  America Ferrera, a famous tv and movie actress, included.  She talked about how she dreamed about growing up and walking through the red carpet having fans cheer her name, and how now she got to live her dream because she worked hard and did not give up on what she loved.

According to Karen Uvalle, a ninth grade student, her favorite part were the guest speakers.  She also added that she thought it was a great experience and she would go again.

Mr. Beebe, the Spanish teacher and Latinos In Action teacher, said, “The speaker Ernesto Mejia had good things to say.”  Ernesto talked about his life story and how hard it is to pick yourself up from depression and even though it was not easy he did not give up, and when he did not give up he got through it.

According to Ana Jimenez, a ninth grade student, she liked how she got to see all the college opportunities. The Grand Ballroom was filled with different college students talking about how fun and awesome it is to keep up your education and go to college. BYU Idaho, Snow College, SUU, UVU, Dixie, and some more colleges were there to talk about everything to do in college and all the awesome opportunities.
