A Look Back On The Year

This past semester, Springville Junior High has had many events happen. Many students have good memories of the things they experienced. From August through December, many things have happened at SJHS, from Cross Country in September to Election Day in November. This article is dedicated to these past months of the the first semester.

August of course, many students will recall the first day of school, but according to Carter Call, a seventh grader at SJHS, he had a pretty interesting day. Carter said, “I was happy to see there were vending machines. I also got lost a couple times.”

In September, the Hope Squad members went to a training at the Grant Building. They played games on how to work together, and had a guest speaker come in and talk to them about Hope Squad. Chloe Wilson, an eighth grader at SJHS, and a member of the Hope Squad said, “The training was really cool. We learned a lot.”

October, the month of Halloween. Many students dressed up in each of their unique costumes and came to school. From witches to Sully from Monsters Inc., students dressed up in different costumes. According to Katelynn Vaughn, an eighth grader at SJHS, she dressed up as a Sassy Sailor, partied with her friends, and was chased by people with chainsaws.

In November, it was Election Day. President Barack Obama was voted to have another four years in office. Also in November, it was Thanksgiving Break. According to Katelynn Vaughn, her cousins came over and spent Thanksgiving with her family. So there are some memories in the month for giving thanks.

In December, that one month of the year that is full of cheer and snow. One of the things that Nicole Wheeler, an eighth grader at SJHS, participated in was the choir concert at the school for parents. According to Nicole, it was exciting and fun to perform in front of her parents. Also, many students are excited for Christmas Break and the fun they will have in the snow, and the cheer Christmas time brings.

Though this semester has gone by, there are always going to be other memories to take a look back on the year.
