Mastersingers decorate choir students’ lockers

Submitted by tiffanie.miley on

This year Mrs. Leslie Walker’s ninth-grade choir class, the Mastersingers, came up with a creative way to make the students in choir feel welcome. On the choir students' birthday the Master Singers go and decorate their locker.  “We thought it would be a great way to make the choir students in all the choirs feel that we care about them!” said Mrs. Walker.

To avoid chaos, Mrs. Walker has put together a birthday committee, and the man in charge is Ethan Knowlton, a ninth grader at SJHS! At the beginning of the year all the students in choir wrote their name and birthdate down on a piece of paper and Ethan keeps track of all the days. Then he chooses who will go out and decorate the locker. The Mastersingers decorate the lockers with paper star saying “Happy Birthday……. from the Mastersingers!” with blue and red ribbons hanging down from the star.

According to Amanda Ripley, a ninth grader at SJHS, it’s a fun way to show the choir students how much the choir appreciates them, and she’s glad she could be a part of it. All the students who have had birthdays and had the lockers decorated really like it and appreciate it. This is the first year the choir class has done this and they hope they can do it every year.
