Mr. McCombs

This year at SJHS new teachers have been added to the staff. One of these teachers is Mr. McCombs, a new seventh grade English teacher. This is Mr. McCombs’ first year teaching. “This is still my first year teaching, so in a way, I'm just a tiny fish in a huge pond called teaching. Sometimes it feels like I'm drowning in that pond, but at others, it's like floating on the top of the water with the sun on my eyelids,” said Mr. McCombs.

Even though this is his first year teaching Mr. McCombs, loves his job. He said that there are many students that make it fun. Even though there are ups and downs, he absolutely loves his job.

Mr. McCombs has many interest. One of these is photography.  “I am super into photography. I find myself noticing lighting all the time because of it. Sometimes I'll just stop and stare at something because it's so photogenic. I love how simple and amazing a picture can be, and they really are worth a thousand words,” said Mr. McCombs.

Another one of his talents or interests is the ukelele. He learned to play a few years back and is getting pretty good. “It's such a beautiful, portable instrument, and sometimes it almost sounds like a harp,” said Mr. McCombs. He has even written a song or two in his free time.

Recently Mr.McCombs and his wife have been getting into the show Downton Abbey. “It's what we watch nearly every weekend, because it just grabs you by the throat at the end of each episode; it's really engaging. It's basically a British soap opera, but without guys in eye patches and twin brothers,” said Mr. McCombs.

“Mr. McCombs is a good teacher, and I learn a lot from him,” said Logan Herrick, a seventh grade student at SJHS.

As you can see Mr. McCombs is a great addition to the SJHS staff. He is a fun, interesting person and a very good teacher.
