Mrs. Caras the Superstar

At Springville Junior High School, there is a teacher that is a really hard worker and has worked at the school for quite some time. Mrs. Caras has been a science teacher at SJHS for 13 years, and is still teaching.

Mrs. Caras lives in Springville and enjoys teaching science to the students at our school. She taught Biology and AP Biology at Woodinville High School in Seattle before coming to teach here. She has also taught Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology at the Shoreline Community College. Mrs. Caras said, “I wanted to be a medical doctor after taking Human Anatomy at BYU. Before I moved here, I was going to the University of Washington in Seattle.  I got all coursework completed and was working on setting up my dissertation study and started having trouble with my younger son.  We moved to Springville so we would be close to my family and help.  Ultimately I didn't finish because of the trials and turmoil with him.” In her opinion though, Mrs. Caras loves teaching at this school.

Pamela Lopez, Colbie Perkins, and Anna Gurney, ninth graders at SJHS, all agree that Mrs. Caras is really fun and cool. Pamela Lopez said, “She explains stuff really well. If you don’t understand something, she’ll stop and help you out. She’s my fav teacher.” River Lindquist, another ninth grader at SJHS, said, “Her class is my favorite class, and she talks about football stuff. She is totes fab in da hood.”

Mrs. Caras loves sports, especially football. A couple of her favorite sport teams are BYU, the 49ers, and the San Francisco Giants.  She likes to watch her kids and grandkids play sports, and she loves to travel. Her favorite candy is chocolate mint truffles from See’s candy shop or Mrs. Cavanaugh’s hand-made truffles.
