Mrs. Gleave, a ninth grade math teacher. 385.82 KB

Although we have many wonderful, new teachers this year, many of our talented teachers have stayed with us. Mrs. Gleave, a math teacher, is one of those teachers.

Mrs. Gleave has been teaching math at Springville Junior High for seven years. In addition to this, she has also taught online math for three years, tutored students, and taught a year at a Hawaiian private school.

According to Mrs. Gleave, she was inspired to teach because she had some very boring math teachers in her junior high and high school experience, and this led to her teaching for a time before she had children, and then she had the opportunity to stay home with her children while they were young. After this she chose to go back to school to get her Masters in Math Education.

She is very happy with her career choice. She said, “Helping students accomplish something they thought they couldn't do is awesome!  I also like seeing students improve their math skills throughout the year.  Lifelong learners can do incredible things!”

Students are very happy that she chose to teach math, and that she teaches here at Springville Junior. Abby Kawai, a student in her ninth grade math class, said, “She really enjoys her job, and she tries to explain things in ways that will help you understand.”

Mrs. Gleave’s son, Luke, an eighth grader, also enjoys having his mom teach here. He said, “It is kind of weird [having my mom teach here] but there are perks. I get food whenever I want.” He also said, “She’s very serious about what she does, but she tries to make it fun.”

Mrs. Gleave has hobbies other than math. She said, “I love spending time with my family.  Movies, bike rides, dancing, reading and BYU basketball games are great ways to spend some spare time.”

She, like many other teachers, loves the new building. “This building is unbelievable!  It's so beautiful and incredibly functional.  I love the excitement that has accompanied the new building.  Students and faculty really seem to be enjoying the new space.  It's very impressive and my room rocks!”

Mrs. Gleave is an incredible math teacher who knows her stuff.
