Mrs. Murdock Spotlight

One of our office secretaries, Mrs. Murdock, has been working at SJHS since 1989! She spent the first year working part time with one of the teachers, helping write a grant for the school. The following year, she worked with students that had been sent to skills. She has also worked in the attendance and counseling offices and now takes care of the finances in the front office.

“I love working with the students and watching the many positive changes they make as they attend Springville Junior High,” said Mrs. Murdock. According to Mrs. Murdock, she has made many friends over the years working with different students, teachers, and staff. Many of the same teachers that were here when she first started working are still here, and they are all excited about being a part of the move to the new junior high.

“I am grateful to be part of this community and proud to represent the Knights at Springville Junior High School,” Mrs. Murdock said.

Mrs. Bales, the other office secretary at SJHS, said she has worked with Murdock for 18 years. They have lots of fun in the office and she is glad she gets to spend each day with her. “When ever we need to get each others attention we throw paperclips at each other. It’s pretty funny. You never know when a paper clip might hit you,” said Mrs. Bales.

According to Mrs. Bales, Mrs. Murdock loves her family and spends lots of time with them. She has lots of fun camping and running rivers with her family. She is a kind, compassionate person. Mrs. Bales says they will always be friends.

Mrs. Murdock grew up in Springville and attended the old Lincoln Elementary School that was standing where the Post Office is now located. Her father passed away when she was very young and her mother was forced to return to work as a school teacher. Mrs. Murdock’s kindergarten teacher was her very own mother! She also attended Springville Junior High and walked these same halls for seventh, eighth, and ninth grade. When she was in ninth grade her older brother served a mission in England and sent her the original autographs of the singing group, The Beatles! After Mrs. Murdock graduated from Springville High, she attended BYU working towards a business degree. She married her high school boyfriend and they were blessed with six children, four boys and two girls. In her free time she loves spending time with her family, adding 11 grandchildren to the mix. Her family loves to river raft in the summertime and has several rafts so everyone can join in on the fun!

“Mrs. Murdock is very nice. I’m glad she works here!” said Emori Brown, an eighth grader here at SJHS.

We love Mrs. Murdock and hope she continues working here as long as possible!
