At the new Springville Jr. High we got a brand new gym for P.E and to play in. Ms. Gerhauser, a P.E. teacher at SJHS, said that she likes the size of the gym and the sound system. But Coach Parker, another P.E teacher at SJHS, said, “It is frustrating to try to play pickleball and badminton without the lines.”

Andrew Yazzie, an eighth grader at SJHS, said, “I like the gym because of the three to four choices of activities we get to choose from, but I don’t like that we can’t fit our binders in our P.E. lockers because they are so small.”

Coach Parker said that there are some plus and minuses about the gym; it is bigger than our old main gym, and newer. There is also a multi purpose room which we are lucky to have, but there is not pickleball or badminton lines in the gym and you can hear all the noise from the other gym.

Ms. Gerhauser said one thing she would change in the gym is the location of the offices. Ms. Gerhauser said, “When I’m in my office the boys in my class can’t come and talk to me or ask me a question because my office is in the girls locker room.” She said the nice thing about it is the drinking fountains and bathrooms are close.

According to both Coach Parker and Andrew Yazzie the new SJHS gym is better overall than the old SJHS gym. It is bigger, and better than the old gym. Coach Parker said, “The new gym is . . . better overall.”
